Expansion doubles manufacturing capacity and centralizes all employees for the first time in 43 years; expands again just two years later
After embarking on an aggressive growth mission and considering a building project for several years, consumer packaged goods manufacturer Saco Foods earned a large new contract and had to expand its space quickly.

25,000 square foot addition
National Construction completed a 25,000 square foot design-build addition that leveraged land Saco already owned, doubled their manufacturing capacity and brought all their staff together under one roof for the first time in the company’s 43-year history.

The 25,000 square foot space incorporates custom materials into an industrial design – oversized and metal clad sliding barn doors, a glass garage door wall, maple finishes and polished concrete floors among them. Other features include:
Insulated precast concrete and curtain wall exterior insulated glass walls
Structural steel bar joist decking and EPDM rubber roof
Exposed joist structure with floating acoustic ceilings in office spaces
Custom wood ceilings and wall treatments
Design and mechanicals specific to food manufacturing, including compressors, HVAC and pressurization systems
Incorporation of brand-specific blue in custom laminate cabinets and paint
Shiplap-accented displays and custom closets
An open office environment with full kitchen and common space
National Construction also navigated Indian Burial Ground and protected Oak Savannas site concerns at the beginning of the project, and provided immediate support to Saco when record rainfalls of August 2018 flooded the newly completed project.

Just two years later, Saco needed to expand again in response to increased demand for its products during the COVID-19 pandemic and two new, large contracts. National Construction completed a new road onto the property and a second 20,895 square foot warehouse addition including four loading docks, bathrooms, an office and a mezzanine for storage.
