Having completed several remodeling projects at the grocer’s Verona location, National Construction was their first choice for a new 44,000 square foot store in Mount Horeb. The supermarket was constructed using structural steel, precast insulated exterior wall panels and an R-44 EDMP rubber roof. It was designed to accommodate a future 14,000 square foot expansion to support the growing community.

National Construction renovated the local chocolatier’s first facility in downtown Mount Horeb. Achieving double-digit growth year after year, they soon outgrew their manufacturing space. So, Sjölinds contracted with National for a second facility – a chocolate factory – in the village’s eastern gateway. The iconic exterior features ribbed Swedish-inspired blue and yellow metal siding and a metal roof. Limestone countertops, a two-sided fireplace with limestone surround, and a tongue and groove wood ceiling stand out in the interior retail space. The facility also features a drive-through window and ample production space, including a continuously air-conditioned room to ensure the shine and durability of their chocolate products.

Respected Wisconsin tourism marketing firm Pilch & Barnet – which shares the Trademark Building with National Construction’s downtown Madison offices, among others – sought a build-out of their second floor space in the 1900s manufacturing building. National installed new flooring, repainted interior steel features, and stained the wood ceiling. Perimeter walls were drywalled and painted, and interior partitions added to establish a vestibule and reception area, conference room, production and storage space, offices, breakroom, bathrooms and storage. Unique to the firm’s needs was a soundproof media room.
