Tesla added service centers numbering in the triple digits in 2021, and one of those was the first in Dane County. Tesla chose the former Range Rover car dealership and service center just off of the Beltline to be remodeled and needed a contractor to complete the work on a tight timeline while still meeting its aesthetic and technological specifications. The building’s owner also had renovation requirements that needed to be met. The National Construction team safely completed the renovation in just three months, on time and within budget.
The building’s exterior and retaining walls were painted, and Tesla signage was installed. Exterior improvements also included new sidewalks, pavement, LED lighting, bike racks and electric car charging stations.
Inside, the customer areas were renovated. Updates include removal and replacement of interior partition walls, fully remodeled restrooms and new flooring, ceilings and paint for the offices and showrooms.
In the service area, a new 800-amp electrical service was added for the technicians’ Tesla Supercharger, which quickly charges the electric vehicles. Tesla-specific lifts were added to the service bays. Improvements also include fresh paint, ceiling fans, a refinished concrete floor and new lighting.
Work was kept confidential while in progress to mitigate public interest and hold off demand until the center was operational. The nearest Tesla service centers are in Milwaukee and Chicago.
